Planning a visit to Jamaica and looking for a fun activity to do away from the beach? Mystic Mountain is a wonderful place for the entire family! When staying at Moon Palace Jamacia, I got to spend the morning at Mystic Mountain, but you could easily spend the entire day doing more! Mystic Mountain is located in Ocho Rios. It is only 5 minutes from the cruise ship pier as well as Dunn’s River Falls. It’s also only 10 minutes from Moon Palace Jamaica! You’ll find adventure tours for all ages. Mystic Mountain offers unique excursions including the Sky Explorer (your entrance into the park), Bobsled Jamaica, and the Zipline. You can find packages that offer more than one experience so that way you can cater to your needs and wants for you and your family or friends. See more information about Mystic Mountain below! This is such a fun way to spend your day away from the resort. I highly recommend it and really enjoyed my time here!
Sky Explorer: This chairlift is the only way to the top where all the activities are located! If you’re afraid of heights, just keep in mind that you will have to use this transportation as a way to get to the other fun activities at Mystic Mountain. The chairlift takes you high up over the tropical rainforest (700 ft high!) You’ll see the northern shore of Jamaica along with views of the ocean and cruise ships if you’re lucky!
Bobsled: This is what I did! It is so fun! You will rocket down the side of a 3280 ft. long mountain. You can ride with 2 people or go solo and operate your own bobsled so you can go as fast or slow as you want. It’s peaceful but also a full rush- all at the same time. I loved it!
Swimming Pool: Located right next to the Bobsled, enjoy the swimming pool with views overlooking the blue water!
Reggae Rock: You can climb a 30ft. simulated rock as you make your way to the top of the climbing wall at Mystic Mountain. You’ll be strapped into a harness as you climb but are guided safely from below.
Raggamuffin Ride: You’ll glide 525 ft. up the mountain on this Raggamuffin Ride. After you reach the top, you will fly down the mountain on the track that sits high over Ochos Rios. Thee are 14 turns with gorgeous views of the Caribbean Sea!
E-Off Road Adventures: Enjoy the first-ever electrical ATV tour! You’ll get to ride through the rainforest on this Mystic Mountain adventure tour.
Anancy’s Web: You can climb and swing through 3 levels up to the top of the 30 ft. aerial maze of ropes and wood. It’s a part jungle gym and part obstacle course and fun for the entire family!
Additional Combination Tours Include:
Dunn’s River Falls: You’ll be able to climb a natural (rock) staircase with the help of a tour guide.
Blue Hole: Walk the marked trail to the underwater caves. You can also enjoy the natural swimming pools and swim if you’d like!
What to Wear
When visiting Mystic Mountain, be sure to wear lightweight closing like workout capris/shorts as well as tanktops/t-shirts. You’ll want to definitely wear sunscreen and bug spray. If you forget bug spray, they do have bug bands you can purchase for $5. I did buy one of these because I forgot to bring bug spray (You are in the rainforest and in the trees so I should have known better!) Be sure to wear comfortable closed-toed shoes because only some activities will allow sandals. Don’t forget your sunglasses and phone/camera with a strap so you can safely take pictures without having to worry about dropping your phone. Be sure to bring a credit card/cash for drinks/snacks or tips (not required by encouraged) for the tour operators. If you do bring a bag, there are lockers that you can purchase for a small fee.
