Summer House on the Lake Restaurant recently opened at Disney Springs and I ate there for dinner to give it a try. I am so happy to report that I loved it! Everything from the food, vibe, decor, service, etc. is top-notch.

About

This restaurant has a California-style vibe with delicious food with views overlooking the lake. The inside of this restaurant is great but I love the back patio. It’s so cool to be sitting outside to see the Aerophile Balloon and Amphicars going by on the water from your seat while you’re eating. It was a little chilly while we were eating, but they did have heaters spread throughout the patio. There are automatic shades that come down if it is raining or too cold so that way you can still sit out on the patio. If you want to eat outside, just be sure to request it when you arrive.

Food & Drinks

You can eat at Summer House for lunch, dinner, or weekend brunch.  Once you finish your meal, be sure to check out the in-house bakery: The Cookie Bar! Yes, you can order dessert at the table, but the Cookie Bar is a dessert-focused market where you can order cookies to-go, pastries, beer, wine, coffee, and more so you can enjoy those while you stroll through Disney Springs.

I ordered the Frozé and Dan had a local beer. The frozé was delicious and refreshing.

We ordered the Jalapeno cornbread with honey butter to start. This is a popular item on the menu and I can see why. It was so good! I ordered the Crispy Chicken Sandwich for dinner (the fact that it was served with buttermilk dressing is what sold me). Dan had the Prime Cheeseburger. Both of our meals came with fries. We both thought our food was really good and would get it again (but next time I would want to try something different because the menu has so many items that look so good!)

Cookie Bar

As I mentioned earlier, The Cookie Bar is a dessert-focused market where you can order cookies to-go, pastries, beer, wine, coffee, and more so you can enjoy those while you stroll through Disney Springs. You don’t have to have a reservation to visit the Cookie Bar. Anyone can visit this to order at the counter since it’s separate from the restaurant.

Overall Review

This restaurant reminds me a lot of Hampton Social (if you have ever eaten at one of those before). The vibe and decor are very similar, even though this is supposed to be a “California” theme. This restaurant is family-friendly and we did see some children there while we ate. However, it is a bit more upscale at Disney Springs and would be the perfect spot for a date night or adult-only meal. The Boathouse is still my favorite restaurant at Disney Springs, but now this is a close second!
