Planning to visit Bimini, Bahamas, and are looking for something to do for the day? We purchased day passes to Resorts World Bimini and are so glad we did!
We visited Bimini as part of our sailing itinerary with Celebrity Cruise Line. I will be totally honest – I was unsure of what to expect with Resorts World and had kept my expectations low as to what to expect. I am happy to say that we had a great time and I’m really happy with our decision on how we spent our day.
If you are visiting via Virgin Voyages, Virgin runs Resorts World for the day and turns it into The Beach Club at Bimini for the ultimate beach experience.
If you are visiting via another cruise line like Celebrity or Royal Caribbean, the locals and Resorts World will run this. Note: Entry is free with a Resorts World Bimini hotel reservation. Day passes begin at $40, and you can purchase them directly from the cruise line you are sailing on.
Note: The island of Bimini isn’t a private island for specific cruise lines, so there are other things you’ll be able to do at the island beyond the beach club. Check your Cruise Planner through your cruise line to see all available excursions that you can book.
How to get to Resorts World
When you disembark the ship in Bimini, you will walk from the ship to the end of the dock. It’s not a far walk and easy to access. You will arrive at a little hut where you’ll give your name/shore excursion tickets from the ship to the employees at the hut. They will exchange it for a wristband and will direct you to a specific line to wait in. This will determine which tram will take you to Resorts World or if you are going somewhere else. It was super easy to get on the tram. Note: Be sure to get off the ship early. We left about 30 minutes after the ship arrived and did not have to wait long for a tram. Others who waited until 9/10 AM had to wait much longer because so many more people were waiting.
Resorts World is not very walkable, so I would recommend taking the tram, especially in the summer when it will be very hot and humid outside!
The tram will drive about 10 minutes to Resorts World and drop you right off at the front entrance. It does a roundtrip loop and makes a stop at the casino and the shopping area before returning to the port so it’s very easy to get to/from the ship. Be sure to start your journey back to the ship about an hour before you are supposed to be on the ship to avoid missing it!
I prefer to arrive early to Resorts World to have the best pick of chairs/umbrellas. You can choose to sit by the pools or the beach. We opted for the beach to see the beautiful blue water and had no problems finding seats with umbrellas. The chairs are a bit run down, but it was still a great way to spend the day. Be sure to pack your towels from the ship because there weren’t any available to use here!
Pools
There is an adult-only pool and then a family pool. Resorts World is not just for children, but we saw more adults than children here. Since it was a Celebrity sailing, I find that there are just more adults sailing on these ships in general. However, if you are staying at the hotel on Bimini or at a home in Bimini, you can still purchase a day pass here so it is family-friendly. There is a specific pool that kids can use. The pool area has a DJ in the afternoon and has a more “club” feel to it with the loud music.
Beach
The beach is HUGE. There are tons of umbrellas and chairs all down the beach with rows for you to choose from. The best seats will go fast so be sure to get off the ship early for the best seat. We were happy to see that there was waitstaff coming around taking orders for food/drinks. I had read reviews that the staff wasn’t friendly or hard-working, but we expected the exact opposite. Everyone was very helpful and we had no problem getting drinks.
Cabana Rentals
If you’re looking to elevate your experience at Resorts World, you can book a cabana. The cabanas come with 4 bottles of water, 4 sodas, a fruit bowl, and a dedicated server. Bottle service is available. All cabana rentals require a minimum spend of $400.
You can rent a beachfront cabana, pool-view cabana, or garden-view cabana for the day.
Food/Drinks
Drinks are expensive! You can get a promotional beer bucket where you pay for 4 and get 5, but cocktails and anything else are pricey. We did not eat food here and packed snacks from the ship. We went back to the ship to have a late lunch. They do have a menu with chicken fingers, french fries, etc. but that was $20 for a small order so keep that in mind. There is an option to purchase your day pass with the buffet, but we knew we would not get our money’s worth eating from there since we aren’t buffet fans. ;)
Note: Bimini Beach Club is cashless! They accept all major credit cards except for Discover.
Bathroom
There was one main large bathroom area. It was very clean and had no problems using it. There are locker rentals and shower locations as well. This area seemed to be very well taken care of.
What happens if you don’t go to Resorts World when visiting Bimini?
There is a small beach right at the end of the dock if you are looking for a free public beach. I did see chairs/umbrellas to rent but it looked completely run down and we were so thankful that we did not go there. There was a small tiki shack to purchase drinks from and it looked like a porta potty for the bathroom.
There are golf carts to rent to explore the island. I think that would have been fun had I been just with my husband, but since I had my parents, grandparents, and aunt with me, we felt the best decision was to make it easy and purchase day passes to Resorts World.
Overall Review
We are really happy with how our day turned out at Bimini Beach Club. Of course it’s not as nice as Cococay since you have to pay for it, but I was pleasantly surprised how much we joined it here. My expectations were low but we ended up having a great time. We were just looking for somewhere to hang out and safely relax at the beach and that’s exactly what we got to do. It was definitely worth it!
