Last week, I had the opportunity to learn more about Disney Cruise Lines’ Disney Dream. Let me tell you, if you have never experienced sailing on a Disney ship, you are totally missing out!
The Disney Dream had its maiden voyage on January 26, 2011. This ship is almost double in size compared to the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic. Disney Dream is home to the first ever water rollercoaster- The Aqua Duck and offers large staterooms, wonderful restaurants, and amazing entertainment or both kids and adults.
The Disney Dream is currently sailing 3 and 4 nights out of Port Canaveral, FL with ports of call in both Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney’s very own private island: Castaway Cay.
When you arrive at the cruise ship terminal, the first thing you hear is Disney music, just to get you in the spirit and set the mood for your entire vacation. Sailor Mickey and Minnie even greet guests in the terminal before you even board your ship. It is such a fun experience and really makes you excited about your vacation.
Staterooms:
Once you begin the boarding process and it is after 1:00 PM, you can begin to head to your stateroom to drop off your bags or check out where you will be sleeping the next 3,5, or 7 nights! If you are staying in a concierge level room, your party gets to start early! The experience stars with priority boarding among the first guests to board the ship. Adjacent to your Concierge stateroom is the Concierge Lounge with light snacks and beverages to enjoy throughout the day. This also includes complimentary beer, wine, and cocktails throughout the evening! Not only do you get to enjoy the Concierge Lounge, but there is also a sundeck outdoors including hot tubs and drinks. This isn’t a bad way to start your vacation!
If you aren’t concierge lounge, you have many other options when staying on the Disney Dream:
Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah: These rooms offer a separate shower space and a separate getting ready space in the bathroom so that bigger families can all get ready at the same time. These rooms have a private balcony for their stateroom.
Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom– These rooms offer a separate shower space and a separate getting ready space in the bathroom so that bigger families can all get ready at the same time. These rooms have a private window or porthole for their stateroom. These rooms sleep 3 to 5 people.
Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom– These rooms offer a separate shower space and a separate getting ready space in the bathroom so that bigger families can all get ready at the same time. These rooms have a private window or porthole for their stateroom. These rooms sleep 3 to 4 people.
Deluxe Inside Stateroom- These rooms offer a separate shower space and a separate getting ready space in the bathroom so that bigger families can all get ready at the same time. These rooms have a virtual porthole that shows a 24-hour live feed from a camera mounted outside the ship. Some of your favorite Disney characters will even swim by!
Standard Inside Stateroom- These rooms offer one-bathroom space for everyone to share. These rooms have a virtual porthole that shows a 24-hour live feed from a camera mounted outside the ship. Some of your favorite Disney characters will even swim by!
Restaurants:
There are many different dining options when sailing onboard the Disney Dream. Disney has a one of a kind rotational dining service, that most other cruise lines don’t have. Each night of your cruise, you will be assigned a different restaurant, allowing you to experience multiple dining rooms throughout your cruise. Your wait staff actually goes along with you to each dining room so that they can personally get to know you and your family.
On the Disney Dream Sailings, there are sometimes themed nights depending on which length your cruise is:
3-night cruises:
One cruise casual night—no swimwear or tank tops
One pirate night themed deck party
One optional “dress-up night”—jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women
4-night cruises:
The first night is cruise casual—no swimwear or tank tops
One pirate night themed deck party
One optional dress-up night—jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women
The final night is cruise casual—no swimwear or tank tops
Animators Palate is a main dining room option. Guests will experience Animation Magic, which is an interactive dinner show that will involve guests during their meal. Guests are invited to draw Disney characters on placemats when they first come into the restaurant. Servers will collect these drawings, and then they will start showing up on the screens around the room. Guests will then get their drawings back with a special animator stamp added. How cool is this?!
Enchanted Garden serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner as a Main Dining restaurant. During the day time, the ceiling is like a bright blue sky. For dinner, the sky then transforms from day to night with a sky full of stars and constellations. This restaurant makes you feel like you are eating the gardens for France.
Royal Palace serves French-inspired cuisine. I love the decor in here because it is inspired by classic Disney princesses including Aurora, Cinderella, Snow White, and Belle.
Remy is a French-inspired adult only restaurant and is named after Remy from Ratatouille. Guests can only book one dinner at Remy in advance to give all adult guests the opportunity to eat in this special restaurant. This restaurant is not just a meal, but an experience. Dinner starts with a signature cocktail and then features eight or nine small courses. Have you ever eaten at Victoria & Alberts at the Grand Floridian Resort in Orlando? The chefs from that location teamed up to create a wonderful menu on board the Disney Dream. This meal has a $125 fee and costs $75 for brunch.
Palo offers one of the best views from the ship. This Italian inspired restaurant is adult only. Reservations are required and can only one reservation can be booked in advance.
Entertainment:
The AquaDuck is the first-ever water coaster at sea. This water coaster features transparent tubing that sends you all over the top decks and even out over the sea! It features a 4 deck drop and is made for children AND adults. Riders must be 42″ tall to ride with someone else and 54″ to ride alone. How cool is this?!
Goofy’s Pool and Donald’s Pool are both family-friendly pools. Lounge chairs surround both pools and cast members offer activities here through the day, so you can combine fun and the sun!
Walt Disney Theater presents 3 stage shows: Disney’s Believe, The Golden Mickeys, and Beauty and the Beast. You can also find movie premieres and 3-D films! Even better- a concession stand is available for you to buy popcorn to enjoy everything!
Kids’ Club
Yall. This is the coolest Kids’ Club I have ever seen! The Kids Club is split into different ages:
It’s a Small World Nursery (Infants 6 months – 3years)
Oceaneer Club (ages 3-12)
Oceaneer Lab (ages 3-12)
Edge (ages 11-14)
Vibe (ages 14-17)
The Oceaneer Club is where your children will want to spend all of their time on your vacation. This club features Andy’s Room, where kids are shrunk down to the size of toys in a replica of Andy’s room from Toy Story. The room is full of giant size toys! Disney Infinity Game Room allows children to interact with a complete set of Disney Infinity characters and with each other. Star Wars Millenium Falcon is a room where children can step inside the cockpit of Han Solo’s starship. Pixie Hollow is a Tinkerbell themed room representing the magical fairy world.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique
Yes, This is the same boutique that is located at Disney World and is now offered on the Disney Dream! This boutique is available for makeovers, including hair, makeup, nails, and costumes!
Review:
There is SO much to do for everyone on the Disney Dream. Whether you are a family of 4 or a couple looking to take a trip without children, the Disney Dream is a great ship for everyone. From adult-only areas to out of this world Kids’ Clubs, everyone is guaranteed to have a GREAT time! There is no better time than now to take the trip!
