Visiting Epic Universe for the first time? I have got you covered!
If you’re new here, hi! I’m Molly. I am a travel agent who specializes in theme park vacations. I live in Orlando and am an annual passholder to Universal Orlando. I visit the parks frequently and have been to Epic Universe many times. It can be very overwhelming planning a trip to Universal for the first time. If you are ready to book your vacation and need help picking out a hotel and tickets, contact me and let’s get planning! In the meantime, here are some of my *top* tips for visiting Epic Universe.
Epic Universe Layout:
There are five Worlds located inside Epic Universe:
Celestial Park
Super Nintendo World
How to Train Your Dragon- Isle of Berk
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic
Dark Universe
The park is designed as a hub and spoke. The hub is Celestial Park with “portals” to enter the four other worlds. Plan your route based on your must-do rides and dining to avoid unnecessary backtracking. I recommend starting in the worlds in the back of the park and moving forward (depending on what is the most important for you to do).

Arrive Early/Stay Late:
Guests with Early Park Admission should head to Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry or Super Nintendo World. If not, start at Stardust Racers in Celestial Park, as crowds rush to the themed, gated worlds. Super Nintendo World is a very small area that gets crowded fast and ride times get extremely long first thing in the morning so keep that in mind if you rush to get there first.

Note: Ride wait times drop significantly 1–2 hours before closing, offering a more productive period than the early morning rush.
Prioritize Outdoor Rides Early:
Many of Epic Universe’s top attractions—including Stardust Racers, Mine-Cart Madness, and Hiccup’s Wing Gliders —are outdoors. These will close immediately if there is a threat of lightning. Tackle them first thing in the morning to beat both the Florida afternoon storms and the peak heat.
There are only 3 rides are indoors at Epic Universe- Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, and Monsters Unchained. Keep an eye on the weather and maybe save these if the forecast shows afternoon thunderstorms!

Reverse Your Route:
Most guests flock to Super Nintendo World or The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic as soon as the park opens. Consider starting in Dark Universe or Isle of Berk, where you may find much lower wait times for headliner attractions like Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment.

Express Pass:
\Not all attractions accept Express Pass but it is recommended for crowded days. (HIGHLY recommend it if you can budget for it!)
Participating Attractions for Express Pass:
Constellation Carousel
Curse of the Werewolf
Fyre Drill
Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry
Hiccup’s Wing Gliders
Le Cirque Arcanus
Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge
Mine-Cart Madness
Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment
Stardust Racers
The Untrainable Dragon
Yoshi’s Adventure

Wait Times:
Super Nintendo World is likely to have the highest wait times; prioritize it early or late in the day. Mine-Cart Madness, Ministry of Magic, and Mario Kart consistently have the longest wait times. If you see these rides wait times at 90 minutes or below, get in line, especially if you don’t have express passes.

Manage the Heat:
The park has limited shade. Bring a refillable water bottle, sunscreen, and cooling towels. Be sure to reapply sunscreen throughout the day – especially in the summer when the sun is strong and it is hot! Epic Universe has notably less shade than other parks due to its younger trees. Wear a wide-brimmed hat or bring a compact umbrella for instant shade between worlds.
Protip: Bring a portable fan (handheld or neck-style) and cooling towels.

Download the App:
Use the Universal Orlando App to track wait times, navigate, and mobile order food to save time.
Epic Universe handles mobile ordering slightly different. While you can place your order any time, you must be located at the restaurant to click “I’m Here. Prepare My Order” and enter your table number. The wait staff will bring everything directly to your table!

Food Strategy:
Plan to eat at off-peak hours (before 11:30 AM or after 2:00 PM) to avoid long lines at popular, high-quality dining locations.

Transportation:
If you are staying at a Universal hotel, buses typically start running an hour before early park admission.
If you want to be close to Epic Universe, you can stay right in the heart of the park with views of Epic Universe at Helios Grand Hotel. Stella Nova and Terra Luna Hotels are a quick 15 minute walk or park shuttle ride away from Epic Universe.
Save the Hub for Night:
Celestial Park truly “comes alive” after dark with coordinated fountain shows and the Stardust Racers vehicles appearing as glowing comets. It is often less crowded for exploration later in the evening.

Utilize Single Rider Lines:
For high-demand rides like Battle at the Ministry and Monsters Unchained, the single rider line can significantly cut your wait time, sometimes down to 10–25 minutes when standby is over an hour.
Best AC Breaks:
If you need to escape the heat, head to the Ministry Viewing Area inside the Harry Potter portal; it features ample seating and strong air conditioning. The Untrainable Dragon and Le Cirque Arcanus shows also offer roughly 25 minutes of indoor AC.

Refillable Water:
You can get free ice and water at any Coca-Cola Freestyle station using your own reusable bottle.
If you need a lot of water, Powerade, or soda, a refillable cup purchase inside Epic Universe is a MUST! You can get unlimited refills throughout the day for less than $20.
Pro tip: Bring an insulated cup and use the refillable water stations throughout the park or purchase an Epic souvenir cup once inside the park!

Purchase a Power-Up Band for Super Nintendo World
Once you purchase the band, link it into your Universal Orland account in the app to start playing inside Super Nintendo World! You can collect coins, points, and complete challenges throughout the World and rides!
Lockers
Lockers are located inside the ride queues (similar to VelociCoaster) and use facial recognition to unlock instead of a ticket.
Kids Play Areas
There are two kids play areas at Epic Universe: Astronomica is an interactive water play area located in Celestial Park and Viking Train Camp is a fun playground located inside Isle of Berk.
Shows at Epic Universe
There are two shows in Epic Universe and multiple character meet-and-greet opportunities! Inside of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, enjoy “Le Cirque Arcanus” and inside of Isle of Berk, be sure to catch the popular “The Untrainable Dragon!” Daily show times can be found in your app.
Characters
The characters inside of Super Nintendo World and Isle of Berk stay in one location throughout the World and come-and-go throughout the day. In Dark Universe, keep an eye out for roaming characters, similar to Halloween Horror Nights. Do not hesitate to ask a team member to use your phone to take a picture!
