Fall Events, Activities, & Treats at Walt Disney World Resort

It’s officially the Fall Season at Walt Disney World! Happening now, through October 31st, come enjoy Magic Kingdom and experience the fall season! While it may not be the same exact celebration that you are used to seeing at Walt Disney World, Disney has done a wonderful job keeping the magic and helping guests create memories and experiences that are still so special. I visited Magic Kingdom on Septemeber 15th (their first official day of fall celebrations) and was so impressed with what I saw!

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party was canceled for 2020, but there were so many elements of the special ticketed event sprinkled throughout!

Dressing Up in Costume

For the first time ever, guests can dress up in costume when visiting Magic Kingdom! Say whaaaat?! Usually, this is reserved just for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, but this year, guests of all ages can wear costumes during Magic Kingdom’s regular park hours from September 15th to October 31st. As a reminder, guests cannot wear costume makes. Only children younger than 14 years old are allowed to wear costume marks. It’s also important to note that approved face coverings are still required during your visit. You can’t tell in my photo, but I’m wearing my favorite Hocus Pocus shirt that I love to wear all season long! I saw so many people embracing the new normal and had on such cute and creative costumes! Come and dress up or wear a cute themed t-shirt like I did. It just adds that much more fun and excitement when planning your trip right now!

Pumpkin Decor on Main Street USA

Fall decor is a little bit more minimal compared to years past, but there is still plenty to see and get photos of! You’ll see pumpkins all down Main Street USA, as well as other fall decor, hung along the train station. My favorites are the pumpkin-themed wreaths that hang on the lampposts and light up at sunset!

Halloween Cavalcades

THIS IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST REASON FOR HALLOWEEN AT MAGIC KINGDOM. Ok, can you sense my excitement?! For the first time EVER, the Boo To You parade has been featured during the DAY. This is HUGE. Usually, this is saved for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, but this year, Disney gave us the best Halloween gift and gave us special Halloween themed cavalcades! These cavalcades were happening about every 25 minutes or so. The majority of them start in Frontierland and come all the way down Main Street USA. Winnie the Pooh and friends start and end on Main Street doing a loop down to Cinderella’s Castle and back. The music and characters on the floats was everything I needed and so much more. It was so well done and love getting to see these characters and the Boo to You music! These cavalcades are not on a published schedule and will appear randomly throughout the day. I did notice they were pretty frequent, even when it was raining!

Special Appearances

You will also notice characters spotted throughout the parks making random appearances! I caught Winnie the Pooh and friends on the Crystal Palace porch standing for distanced selfies, Chip ‘n’ Dale were spotted in their cute costumes in Frontierland on the water in a boat, Jack Sparrow was lurking around Pirates of the Caribbean in Adventureland, and Mickey Mouse and friends waved to you from the Main Street train station. It was so fun being able to spot these characters and see them throughout the day! The Cadaver Dans (also known as Dapper Dans) will also start making appearances on Septemebr 20th at Magic Kingdom!

Delicious Treats

One of the favorite parts of the fall season at Walt Disney World is the seasonal food and drinks that are available for purchase at select locations throughout the park. The theme and level of cuteness is awesome, and are some of my favorites! Remember, calories don’t count at Disney! ;) If you can’t celebrate Halloween at Magic Kingdom, the other parks will actually offer some delicious themed treats as wel!

Mickey Cinnamon Roll (Available at Main Street Bakery) – Mickey-shaped cinnamon roll drizzled with orange and white icing

Cinnamon Donuts (Available at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe) – Served in a Hitchhiking Ghost Novelty container

Pumpkin Spiced Waffle Sundae (Available at Sleepy Hollow) –Pumpkin spice-flavored waffled topped with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, caramel drizzle, and sprinkles

Mickey Monster Mash Burger (Available at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe) – Burger with Meunster cheese, potato barrels, bacon, and siracha aioli

Not So Poison Apple Cupcake (Available at Pinocchio Village House) – A spiced apple cupcake with pecan crunch buttercream themed after a poison apple

Hollywood Studios:

Box of Bones Chocolate Eclair (Available at Backlot Express) – Chocolate eclair with dark chocolate mousse and white chocolate bones

Animal Kingdom:

Scar Cupcake (Available at Creature Comforts, Flame Tree Barbecue, and Restaurantosaurus) – Red velvet cupcake with toasted marshmallow filling, chocolate marshmallow frosting, chocolate pebbles, white chocolate flames, and an edible icing image

Epcot:

Oogie Boogie Premium Popcorn Bucket (Available Canada Popcorn Cart and Fife & Drum)

Green Cauldron Premium Popcorn Bucket (Available at Eats at EPCOT Experience and Mission Space Popcorn Cart)

Festive Merchandise

Halloween-themed merchandise is now available all around the park at select locations. I saw the cutest spirit jerseys, Loungefly backpacks, Minnie ear headbands, home decor, and more! (I got the CUTEST pumpkin spiced candle and Mickey pillow from the Emporium at Magic Kingdom- I couldn’t resist!)

Themed Photo Opportunities

Photo Pass photographers can make your photos extra special this season with some great Halloween themed photo opportunities. They will work their magic and create some great moments that you can take home with you. All photos can be downloaded onto the My Disney Experience app with the Memory Maker. Remember, masks must stay on for photos right now!

Now is a wonderful time to visit Magic Kingdom, especially if you love all things Halloween. Disney has done a wonderful job keeping the spirit and season alive and now is a great time to visit, with lower park attendance and park reservations in place.
