Disney Genie is HERE! I spent the day testing out the new Disney Genie and I believe this amazing service is going to change your Disney vacation experience for the better! Just using it for a short period of time at Hollywood Studios showed me how beneficial it will be when adding this to your vacation.

What is Genie +

Genie + includes more than 40 rides that are available throughout all 4 theme parks to skip the line with the lightning lane feature. You will have access to the new Disney Photopass lenses that have filters for your photos! Some of these lenses will only be accessible in certain parts of the parks. Audio tales are also included with Genie + that will tell you fun facts about the parks.

You will be able to add this Genie + service to your entire vacation package before you arrive. You can also add it day by day at the parks on each day of your park reservation. Adding this service to your package is the best way to pay for it in advance and is one less thing to have to worry about paying for once you arrive. This will cost $15 (plus tax) per person per day and is paid for in advance for the full length of your ticket or each day you want to add it with valid park reservations and admission. When staying on-site at a Disney resort, you will be able to add start booking your first ride of the day at 7 AM. This is a huge benefit to being on-site because if you are staying off-site, you will not be able to make your first reservation until the park opens to the general public. Times will be limited at that point and can sell out.

It’s important to book some of the more popular rides at the beginning of the day or first when making selections because the ride times can “sell out” and be filled for the day on busier days or times of the year.

Here is an example of how to use Genie+: You will log into the app a little before 7 AM (to make sure there are no issues) each day of your park visit. For example, when you visit Magic Kingdom, and have Genie + you will be able to see the list of available rides to pick from starting that morning. You can book one ride at a time throughout the day. Let’s say you book Haunted Mansion for a ride time at 9 AM. You will pick that ride time, ride that ride, and then can go back into the list and pick another choice for that day for the entire length of the day. You can book one ride time at a time and then pick a new one once you ride that ride. If the time is later in the day, you’ll have to wait 2 hours and then can pick another time from the time of park opening.  While you have all the Genie + rides available, you can then also book individual lightning lane rides which include Seven Dwarfs and Space Mountain. That is separate from Genie +. You will pay for those each day of your visit and only if you want to purchase them. The price for those 2 rides can vary each day but run from $6 – $15 per person. Those 2 rides are not included with Genie + and have to be purchased separately. When it’s time for you to ride, you will just head to the Lightning Lane entrance and you will scan your magic band or key to the world card and be able to enter!

Lightning Lane Individual Attractions

Lightning Lane is separate from Genie +. The price for the individual lightning lane selections be will attraction and date dependent. Pricing will range from $6 – $15 (plus tax) per person per ride. The more busy and popular time of year, the more expensive it will be. You can select these attractions starting at 7 AM for on-site guests and then when the park opens to the general public for all offsite guests.
